To work with young people aged 10-18 years in South Devon who are experiencing difficulties in their lives and whose needs have been assessed by Devon Children and Young People Services in line with the Department's categorisation of need. This support is in line with the requirements of the Children Act 1989, particularly in relation to children in need. The service aims to supply a broad range of support to meet the varied individual needs of young people.

  • Help young people to build up personal resources and skills to deal with the difficulties they are experiencing.
  • Help young people to become independent.
  • Help young people stay within their own family, networks or community.
  • Achieve a voluntary partnership with the young person.
  • Extend the young person's range of choices which, in turn, may promote a better quality of life.
  • Act as an advocate for and represent young people's needs to all agencies with which they come into contact.
  • Act in line with current national legislation and Devon County Council policy commitments to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
