Aims & Objectives: By the end of the course participants will be able to:

• Identify  and assess the boundaries of what constitutes sexual abuse
• Identify the personal, professional and social context of practice in this field.
• Understand the role of the Paediatrician in assessment of cases of sexual abuse.
• Be familiar with the profile of an offender and consider the subtlety of grooming.
• Be aware of the impact of internet child pornography
• Recognise the behaviour and reactions of sexual abused children.

Participants must have completed the Safeguarding Level 3 Course, formerly the Child Protection Foundation Course, prior to enrolling.

Dates: Various

Time: 2 day course, 9 a.m. – 4.30 p.m.

Venues: Various across the county.

Maximum number for this course:  there are 2 spaces available for foster carers on each course.

This is a multi-agency training programme which provides a good opportunity for carers to train alongside teachers, health professionals and other social care staff. Please register your interest on the Training Application Form (79KB - pdf help), and the Training Clerk will be in touch.

Carers will need to commit to both days if they wish to attend this course. If you're offered a place, it's essential that you attend.
