Training Programme

SAFEGUARDING LEVEL 4 - SEXUAL ABUSE

Trainer: Devon Local Safeguarding Children’s Board

Aims & Objectives: By the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Identify  and assess the boundaries of what constitutes sexual abuse
  • Identify the personal, professional and social context of practice in this field.
  • Understand the role of the Paediatrician in assessment of cases of sexual abuse.
  • Be familiar with the profile of an offender and consider the subtlety of grooming.
  • Be aware of the impact of internet child pornography
  • Recognise the behaviour and reactions of sexual abused children.

Participants must have completed the Safeguarding Level 3 Course, formerly the Child Protection Foundation Course, prior to enrolling.

Dates: Various

Time: 2 day course, 9 a.m. – 4.30 p.m.

Venues: Various across the county.

Maximum number for this course:  there are 2 spaces available for foster carers on each course.

This is a multi-agency training programme which provides a good opportunity for carers to train alongside teachers, health professionals and other social care staff. Carers will need to commit to both days if they wish to attend this course. If you're offered a place, it's essential that you attend.
