Aims and Objectives: By the end of the session participants will be able to understand:
- How carers can help children with homework
- What happens if their child is excluded from school
- How to support children and young people to remain in school
- How to support a child who has special educational needs
- What to expect from parents’ evenings
- How to support educational attainment
- How to make sense of the National Curriculum
- How Personal Education Plans (PEPs) are used to support children
- How to support children and young people with their education (including early years) and help them to overcome setbacks
- How to work actively with families, Social Workers and teachers to help children and young people to achieve
- How to support young people in their further education, training and employment.
- How to advocate on behalf of children and young people to ensure their educational needs are met.
