Safety Planning Caution

As you will see from the above objectives the aim of this programme is to raise awareness and explore potential ways of dealing with the issue in your professional practice. However you need to be aware that the subject matter is powerful and can at times be challenging. It would be advisable to discuss attendance on the course with your manager so you can jointly identify any support needs that you might have.

Specific to Risk Assessment course

Delegates need to have attended the Level 1 course before undertaking the Risk Assessment Course

Specific to level 2 course

Delegates need to have attended the Level 1 course before undertaking Level 2.

It is essential that anyone wishing to 'sign up' to one of these courses attends both days.

In order to be accredited, with a nationally recognised qualification, it is important that you are able and supported to undertake a further 14 hours coursework within a month of following the course date.

The training programme requires a 30 hour commitment in total.  Two training days from 9am - 5pm followed by 3½ hours per week, for a four week period.  This will include reading and some written evidence.

Safety Planning Caution

This course is designed to raise awareness and increase understanding of the impact of domestic violence on children and young people. It is not a course that will specifically train participants to be specialist domestic violence children's workers.

Examples of best practice will be provided, such as therapeutic techniques and education models. Sample children's programmes will be available for participants to take away as resources.

However, participants who do not have designated responsibility for working directly with children are advised to exercise caution.  This course will not create therapeutic children's workers!
