Tackling Risk Assessment in Domestic Violence & Abuse (one day)

A practical guide to improving victim safety in a multi-agency context

Course Aims & Objectives

Aims

  • To minimise the risk presented to those experiencing domestic violence and abuse.
  • To demonstrate the essential nature of the need to assess risk on an inter-agency basis.
  • To develop a countywide response in assessing risk by having a consistent approach for identifying risk factors and maximising safety for victims/survivors.

Objectives

  • To understand the need for victim focused Risk Assessment.
  • To be able to carry out an effective Risk Assessment within all agency roles.
  • To know what to do with Risk Assessment in particular with reference to the MARAC (Multi Agency Risk Assessment Council) process.
  • To demonstrate the link between Risk Assessment and Child Protection.

Duration

One Day (9.00am – 4.30pm)

Style

This course is practical and user-friendly. Participants will experience and enjoyable and productive workshop involving group discussion and participative exercises.
