What is a registered childminder?

• Looks after one or more children under the age of 8 for more than a total of two hours a day on domestic premises (normally a childminder’s own home) for reward
• Is registered and inspected by Ofsted – demonstrating the quality and standards of their care
• Is self-employed, runs their own business and provides a service to the families whose children they care for

What are information sessions?

Information sessions or 'Pre-registration briefing meetings' are

• Information sessions held across Devon and are free-of-charge  
• Meetings are held in two parts and last for two hours each
• Outline and explain the Ofsted registration process for childminders
• Highlight support and help available to prospective childminders
• Both sessions need to be attended
