Early Years Entitlement

Extended and Flexible Early Years Entitlement for 3 and 4 year olds.
Consulting with Parents –
Before considering how you are going to provide extended 15 hours entitlement and deliver that more flexibly to meet the needs of parents, it is essential that providers consult with local parents.

We have produced a sample survey/questionnaire for providers to use or adapt to meet their needs, which we hope will help with this consultation and a new Parent Leaflet image - PDF icon (234KB - pdf help) relating to the changes to Early Years Entitlement. Incentive Grants
Providers who have been invited and agreed to take part in the initial roll out of extended/flexible Early Years Entitlement will have qualified for a fixed grant of £500 intended to cover additional expenditure towards marketing materials and activity, advertising, promotion and provision of information to parents. They may also apply for an additional grant, up to a maximum of £2000, for other costs associated with extending the hours that a funded child is entitled to receive and/or for those hours to be provided more flexibly to meet the needs of parents.

Reforming the funding of the free entitlement to early education – A report by Devon County Council’s Early Years and Childcare Service

Many of Devon’s Early Years Education Funded childcare providers have, over the last few months, taken part in a survey of the costs involved in delivering their service. This piece of work is a key part of moving, by September 2010 at the latest, towards a single formula for funding Early Years.
