Map location of Dartmouth LibraryThe building is architecturally stunning – incorporating modern style and flair with traditional building materials. The overall theme is silver and blue, with splashes of colour from the children’s area. Dartmouth community college and local primary schools have produced some colourful banners to help decorate the library and local artists have pledged some of their work to adorn the walls

An informal “quick choice” area houses new titles, special promotions and bestsellers, together with music and spoken word CDs and a great range of the latest DVDs for hire. There are comfortable seating areas to browse newspapers or magazines as well as sections for quiet study and reading. A colourful and comfortable area for children will encourage all kinds of learning using books, story-tapes and PCs. A separate ICT suite houses 8 PCs and will be available out of hours for hire to local businesses and community groups. Additional PCs are also located around the library for quick access to your e-mails, the Internet and the library catalogue. Accessible to all, the spacious layout welcomes wheelchair users with a split level counter, low shelving and adjustable height desking. Clear signing and guiding, has been used throughout and there are a specially adapted PCs for people with sight problems and hearing loops at the counter and in the learning suite.

The Flavel CentreLibrary opening hours have been extended to include lunch-times, which we hope will prove more convenient by allowing you to perhaps, take advantage of the other facilities including the café which is situated directly opposite the library.
