Manga Self Portrait Competition

Devon Libraries are asking you to send in your best Manga self portrait for a chance to win a graphic design set.  We are celebrating the National Year of Reading 2008 and the theme for November is Screen Reads.  ( Hmmm… methinks a cheesy link with manga…anime…film….?)

Do you see yourself as a cute chibi, cat girl or all action superhero?  Whatever….. we want to see what you can draw. Entry forms are available at your local library or visit www.devon.gov.uk/libraries/manga. The closing date for entries is 27th November 2008.

Don’t forget that your local library is a great source of manga and art books as well as a wide range of anime DVDs. Order online here or ask at the library.

Eight-year-old Bruno has just moved with his family to a house miles from anywhere. He is warned by his mother never to go beyond the garden's high walls. From his bedroom window he can see a farm; a strange sort of farm, he thinks, where the workers seem to have jumped straight out of bed to work on the fields. As most boys would, Bruno sneaks away from the house to explore. Soon his path is blocked by a huge electric fence.
