A story By Lucy, age 9 - Barnstaple

Lucy's fairyThe Grandfather Clock

Not too long ago there were 4 friends called Chloe, Lucy, Amy and Rebecca who were going on holiday to Yorkshire.
They stayed in a big manor.  In the girl’s bedroom was a grandfather clock but it didn’t work. So Lucy and Amy went down a 100 stair staircase to ask Amy’s dad to look at it. But he couldn’t figure it out. When everyone had gone to bed at 11pm the 4 girls stepped into the grandfather clock but there was no pendulum or back so the 4 girls kept on walking. Suddenly they were in Pixieland. The Pixie queen turned them into Pixie’s.
“Wow” said Amy.
“Ok, ok don’t over exaggerate” said Chloe.
“It’s really exciting though” said Lucy.
“Let’s explore” said Rebecca.

They met a girl called Heather.
“Are you a pixie?” asked Amy,
“Yes I am” said Heather

“Where do you live?” asked Lucy.
“Marmalade Road” said Heather “Do you want to come over?”
“Oh yes” said Lucy “We would love to wouldn’t we guys?”
“Yes” said Amy, Rebecca and Chloe.
So they flew to Heather’s house.
“We are here” said Heather “Anyone for tea?”
“No” said Chloe,Lucy, Amy and Rebecca “We have to go”
“Ok” said Heather “bye”
The 4 girls stumbled out of the clock.

The End

A story by Lauren, age 9 - Kingsbridge

Once there was tiger who was very very rich, he had a big box of sapphires and diamonds.  A long time ago a big bad fly took away a box of sapphires and diamonds away to his home which was in a tree.  But the fly, he didn’t live in any old tree he lived in a big old tree.  One day the tiger was getting very annoyed, so one day the tiger went searching through the forest to find the big tall old tree.  In the end he found the tree where the bad fly lives.  He had to sneak in, but it wasn’t very easy it took ages!  But in the end he got it back to his house and taught the fly to be good and so in the end the bad fly became the good fly and the tiger shared the sapphires with the good fly so they had half each.  And in the end they lived together.  From then on they lived happily ever after.

Lauren wrote this story during a bookclub meeting. The bookclub members were asked to make up a short story using some objects that were given to them in paper bags. In Lauren's paper bag she had a tiger finger puppet, a plastic toy fly and a little gold coloured box containing some coloured glass pebbles.
