All smiles at Stoke Fleming library!
Featured here is Georgina who recently completed the Devon Book Track scheme at Stoke Fleming library. Georgina read 100 books and this achievement was celebrated when she received her Book Track “gold” badge, which she proudly wears here. Georgina also received a certificate which was presented to her at the library. Well done Georgina!
Devon Library Services have successfully run Book Track for a number of years. The scheme encourages children to borrow books regularly from their local library and talk to their librarian about their reading experience. Badges and stickers are collected along the way, and when they reach the goal of 100 books - they are awarded the much coveted Book Track "gold" badge.
Many children over the years have won this award, and their achievements are celebrated with special presentations either at their library or school. Participation is actively encouraged by library staff, parents, carers and teachers alike, as it has been shown that Book Track can boost self confidence, improve literacy skills and emphasise the fun element of learning. Book Track follows the theme of a treasure hunt and all children are given a pirate’s map folder and log to record their reading journey. Badges are presented at 10, 25, 50 & 75, 100 and stickers at 40 & 60 - making Book Track the ultimate reading treasure trove.
