British Standards Online

BSI logo

British Standards Online is available from any Devon County Council public library and to registered members at home.

Library computer users

Go to - http://www.bsi-global.com/

Access is by username and password only so a member of staff will need to login for you. Users can still register for free to search the catalogue of standards but will not be able to view the full text unless logged in by a member of library staff.

Home computer users

Go to - http://www.devon.gov.uk/library/catalogue/cgi-bin/vps2.5_resource_auth.sh

You will first need to login to your personal account page on the online library catalogue using your library membership card number and PIN. Contact your local library if you do not know your PIN. Once logged in, you will see a link to British Standards Online on your personal account page.

Content

  • The full text of nearly all current and draft standards (for technical and copyright reasons, a small number of standards are not available)

  • Includes codes of practice and withdrawn standards

  • Each standard fully cross-referenced to other relevant standards or to standards which either wholly or partially replace it

  • Search by standard number, title, keyword and date of publication

Printing and downloading

There are strict copyright regulations governing the use of British Standards. Library computer users may print no more than 10% of an individual standard and only for personal, non-commercial use.

Home computer users are not permitted to print or download the standards which are only available to view on your computer screen. Please note that any attempt to download or print standards may result in the withdrawal of this service.
