The Morning Group began in September 2003, while the Afternoon Group was launched early in 2006. Both groups operate in the same way, with all members deciding on the choice of book and reading the same title, sometimes chosen from the sets of titles held for Reading Groups.

Discussion is always lively, with widely differing views expressed with both conviction and humour, and the chosen book is often the jumping-off point for wider discussion. Both fiction and non-fiction are considered. The groups are currently full and operating a waiting list.

The Evening Group meets from 19:00 - 20:30 on the last Wednesday of each month. It has the pretty rare distinction of being hosted by a man! Discussion is lively and views and opinions are often conflicting. The newest of the library reading groups, it has already reached maximum capacity and started to operate a waiting list.
