Tavistock Book Group has been running for seven years and varies between 8 and 12 attendees. As well as verbal reviews some members of the group write formal reviews which are then added to the library copy for other users to access. These reviews are also shared with other book groups including Dartmoor prison.

Both groups are lively and welcome new members to our happy fold, the selection does vary sometimes we all review the same book and sometimes individual books.

Throughout the year we have had several events - themed evenings, desert island books and jointly hosted the ‘Christmas from around the World’ evening.

The groups are keen to visit other reading circles and now visit the Dartmoor Prison group. They have also visited other book groups for special event such as a visiting author.

To sum up, one of the members has said that the reason she likes the group is that she is not made to feel guilty if she has not finished the book or didn’t like the choice of book.
