Barnstaple Local Studies
Visiting us
The Library and Record Office is situated in the centre of Barnstaple just off the High Street and main shopping centre.
The Local Studies Centre is on the second floor and is accessible from both staircases and by lift from the ground floor lobby at the front of the building.

We have no dedicated car park but there is public car parking immediately adjacent to the building, or within easy walking distance, or via a park and ride scheme

There are regular buses into the town and a National Express service, the main bus station being near the town centre, about 15 minutes walk from the Library and Record Office
You are welcome to call in and use our resources or to ring and discuss your requirements at any time.
Many of our resources are in microfilm or fiche format and we strongly recommend that you ring in advance of your visit to book an appropriate reader to enable you to view these.
We also recommend that you ring to check the availability of any book item you may be planning a special journey to view.
The Record Office asks that you produce identification with your current address or photograph or a current CARN ticket before you can consult original documents.
