Want to learn about two of the most funny writers around at the moment? Well here they are! I interviewed the 2 Steves and found out all about them and their writing...
How many years have you both been writing books?
About 18 years.
When and where did you meet each other?
At a school in Nottingham, 19 years ago.
What other jobs have you had, other than writing?
We were both teachers.
What made you each decide to become authors or to start writing stories?
We started writing plays for our students - people seemed to like them and asked us to write more and more!
From where do you get your ideas for your books?
All over the place! Real life is a good start - we base a lot of our writing on experiences we've had.
Did you write stories when you were children?
Only at School.
What were your favourite books when you were children?
SS - Winnie the Pooh - SB - The Once and Future King.
We gave 'The Doomsday Virus' top marks. Will you be writing a sequal? (We thought Tim Corder should make 'the Makepeace Virus' and then they meet again!)
Yes - the sequel is written already! It is out next year and is called The Doomsday Watchers.
How did you come up with the name Tim Corder? And Makepeace?
Corder sounds like Cordite - look it up and see what it is! Makepeace is ironic - the very last thing he wants to do is make peace!
Have any of your other books got glossaries in the back?
No!
Who drew the pictures in the book? Our favourite one was where Makepeace got zapped. Kapow!
An artist called Harriet Buckley.
What are you writing at the moment?
Top secret I'm afraid!
Which do you like writing best; plays, novels or short books?
We like writing all sorts - the more the merrier! It also keeps us fresh!
Some of us Newts write stories too. Is there any advice you could give to us aspiring authors?
