Hello everyone, we’re Max’s Marvellous Book Munchers! Hope you like the name! Being book worms we all love munching our way through books! At our first meeting we discussed The Twits by Roald Dahl and had fun making birds for the Big Dead Tree from the book. You can see us with our tree in the photo, we had to glue all the birds on, but not for the same reason as The Twits! We have also had a visit from the local secondary school librarian who runs several book clubs at his school for different year groups. He came and talked to us and led a craft activity. At our fourth meeting just before Christmas we all took home a couple of wrapped up surprise books each, it was sooo exciting and fun!

We have read The Butterfly Lion by Michael Morpurgo and one of our members drew a very large lion, which we then decorated with little blue butterflies that we made out of card. Other books we’ve read include another Michael Morpurgo book called The Wreck of the Zanzibar, some Moomins titles and Midnight for Charlie Bone by Jenny Nimmo.
Some of the books we’ve read:

One of our members liked Charlie Bone so much he is reading the whole series! When we discussed Lion Boy by Zizou Corder we plotted the story out on a large sheet of paper, illustrating the journey the book takes with lots of drawings. We have also had a couple of fun games of consequences, which caused some hilarity!
