Competition Winners
Neill Cameron helped judge the entries for the Big Draw Fantastic Creatures competition.
Here are the winning entries and what Neill said about them.
| Age 5 - 11 1st place: Yen Li, "Olink". Yen Li is 8 and uses Chudleigh Library. I absolutely loved the Olink, which was hugely imaginative, a beautiful drawing, and included a comfy chair AND a poem about comfy chairs. I wish I had a pet Olink myself!
Runner-up: Jessica Pike, "Bat-Tree Torch" It's a bat! It's a tree! It's a torch! Adored it. Jessica is 10 and uses Cullompton Library.

| Age 12 - 17 1st place: Matt, age 15 with his"Art Ninja" Just a fantastic concept, really striking design, and a great idea for a character. Very clever.
Again, a really strong concept, and a great design that conveyed the character perfectly. Once more, I feel bad I could only pick one winner and one runner-up. Phoebe, Harrison and Georgina entries all came very close too! |
| Age 18+ 1st place: John (Great Torrington School) As far as I can tell, this is a drawing of a giant mounter apple with a robot eyestalk, a sailor tattoo and a bazooka, going on a bouncy rampage and smashing up cars. Runner-up: Graham, "Ninja Terrier" - Bude Great design and a lovely cartooning style from Graham. I could totally imagine watching this as a Saturday morning cartoon series! |
