Published in 1847 Wuthering Heights is jointly narrated by Lockwood, a gentleman visiting the Yorkshire moors where the novel is set, and by Mrs Dean, housekeeper to the Earnshaw family, who had witnessed the interlocked destinies of the original owners of the Heights. In a series of flashbacks and time shifts, Emily Brontë draws a powerful picture of the brooding, enigmatic Heathcliff and the wilful Catherine Earnshaw.

A cinema staple since 1920, the story is as well known as the fate of its author – but perhaps someone in your group missed it, or would like to re-read it.
