The Charles Dickens ShowThe Charles Dickens Show

Charles Dickens was an English novelist and is generally considered the greatest of the Victorian period. Dickens enjoyed a wider popularity and fame than had any previous author during his lifetime, and he remains popular, having been responsible for some of English literature's most iconic novels and characters.

While Dickens never lived in Devon he did have several connections to Exeter.

Come and celebrate the 200th anniversary of Dickens' birth with the man himself!

Tickets cost £5 (includes nibbles and a glass on wine)

About the show

In this engaging and unique one-man show, Lloyd Lee is Charles Dickens, our greatest storyteller - in reflective mood.

Share the astonishment and bewilderment that the great author himself felt as he takes us on a journey through his eventful childhood; in the company of his delightfully dotty parents.

One by one, he conjures up for our delectation and delight, the characters that were inspired by his early experiences; interweaving these dramatistations with the narrative of his childhood.

Sometimes mirthful, sometimes touching, sometimes sinister; he makes it clear to us how his humble and sometimes troubled beginnings, made him the giant of literature we know and love.
