Bishopsteignton Museum

Bishopsteignton Museum of Village Life was re-founded thanks to the enthusiasm and energy of local residents of the village. People have generously loaned and given many artefacts reflecting all the work, leisure and domestic life of the locality over the past two thousand years. Activities of kings, churchmen, sea-farers and, not least, the land occupants have all had great impact. There is much for you to see, including oaths of association rolls, window and hearth tax returns and local directories. If you are already a local history enthusiast this is a treasure store, and if not watch out because this interest can be addictive!

So if your interests lie with the way 'ordinary folk' lived their lives in rural England, or even with a curiosity about how the 'great and good' had an influence on British history you can be sure of an enjoyable and interesting visit.
