Equality and Diversity

E-Quality webcast events

E-Quality

is an innovative approach to learning through an hour long ‘question time’ style event on the subject of equality & diversity.  It is aimed at service and senior managers and Councillors, but will also benefit others including policy officers.  It provides an opportunity for you to have your questions answered by a panel of experts.

We film the sessions, providing you an opportunity to learn:

  • in your space – whether in person by attending the event or by watching the webcast either at work or at home, for example.
  • at your pace – the events can be watched live or after the event and will remain available for six months, so they can be viewed any time, they can be paused, fast forwarded and repeated.

Subject areas were identified through a Training Needs Analysis, in consultation with service managers who gave us a number of questions which will be answered by the panels.

We are promoting these events to partner organisations in Devon and across the South West.  Over 160 people watched the first event in the first week. The first four 'pilot' events in 2010 were part-funded by the South West Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnership.

Please contact us if you would like to be a panel member or would like to suggest a future topic.

How to access the webcast

When a link to the webcast becomes available you can click on the event title in the Programme list below.  This will open another screen using Windows Media Player.

To watch the event live, click on the link at the time stated and wait for the filming to start.  You won't be able to view the webcast immediately after the event while it is being 'archived’, but it should be available the next day.

During the live webcast, an email address will be provided so that you can ask the panel questions.

County council staff will probably need Headphones to listen in.  If you do not have any, please contact Training Administration

If you watch or attend an event, please give us feedback by completing the Evaluation Form.

Upcoming and recent events

8th November 2011

Cultural diversity in Devon.

From 11am in the Daw Committee room, County Hall.

Last year's Schools Census reported 120 first languages being spoken by children in schools across Devon.  So many languages; so many cultures. What is our county doing to welcome and integrate families and individuals from minority ethnic backgrounds who choose to live and work here?  How successful is this, and what might the future look like for multi-cultural Devon?  A team of staff and volunteers from Hikmat Devon, who between them speak at least seven of these languages, will be answering your questions about cultural diversity in the county.

Please complete the evaluation form after you have watched an event.  Your feedback will helps us improve future events.
