Devon County Council welcomes its duties to advance sex/gender equality to ensure that discrimination in employment and service provision does not take place. By ensuring that we integrate a gender perspective into our policies and practicies will mean that we cannot think about people as a homogenous group but seeing them as distinct groups with differing characteristics, needs and behaviours.
Public bodies are required to ensure that their policies and practices address the different needs of women and men, including transgendered people.
