National Calendar of Health Related Events 2012

This calendar is produced several months in advance and whilst every care is taken to ensure the accuracy of the information it should be acknowledged that, occasionally, the dates for events and/or website addresses may be changed by the lead organisations. Please check the details of any events that you would like to support.

Cervical Cancer Prevention Week

Public knowledge and understanding of cervical cancer prevention, the causes of cervical abnormalities and cervical cancer and treatments is generally low. The week aims to help raise awareness of cervical cancer and how it can be prevented through a range of initiatives and awareness events throughout the UK.

The annual LOUD and colourful event from Beating Bowel Cancer and has two main parts for you to get involved in.

National Bug Busting Day

Many schools across the country take part in these events, and by synchronising Bug Busting across the country you can help prevent head lice from circulating.

National Bowel Cancer Symptom Awareness Campaign

The Government will run a national bowel cancer symptom awareness campaign for eight weeks from the end of January. This follows a pilot campaign carried out in the South West and East of England in 2011, which encouraged people with persistent symptoms to see their GP.

Walk to Work Week

Walk to work week is a national challenge run by the charity Living Streets. The week aims to encourage employees to walk more as part of their commute and their working day. They provide free online resources to assist organisations.

May is National walking month
