Acceptable Evidence of Name and Address

On registering, new library members are asked to provide proof of their name and current address. Examples of acceptable evidence are a current or recent:

  • Driving licence
  • Television licence
  • Medical card
  • Hire purchase agreement
  • Electricity, gas, telephone (land line) or water bill

  • Letter from employer or payslip, where your address is included
  • Council tax bill
  • State allowance book (eg Pension, Family allowance, or Income Support)
  • Bank or credit card statement
  • Correspondence from the Inland Revenue, Benefits Agency, solicitor, mortgage lender or other professional body

If you are unable to produce any of these items, or if you do not have a fixed address, please speak to library staff, who will help you find a way of becoming a member. For example, if you do not have an address, we can accept evidence of your National Insurance number, or if you are a young adult (16 - 18), we may be able to accept something like a college enrolment form.
