Learning outcomes:
Foster carers play a crucial role in supporting children’s relationships with their birth family. This training gives participants an opportunity to discuss the benefits for and against family contact, and why we supervise contact.
By the end of the course carers will know:
- why contact is important for children and young people in care
- have a clear understanding of DCC contact policy
- understand procedural guidance on: supervised contact agreements; risk assessments; conduct during supervised contact; and recording contact observations
- understand the carers role in contributing to decision making for future contact arrangements.
