Safeguarding, Level 4 - Sexual Abuse
Trainer: Devon Local Safeguarding Children’s Board
Learning outcomes: By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- identify and assess the boundaries of what constitutes sexual abuse
- identify the personal, professional and social context of practice in this field, including work with the non-abusing carer.
- understand the role of the Paediatrician in assessment of cases of sexual abuse.
- be familiar with the profile of an offender and consider the subtlety of grooming.
- recognise the behaviour and reactions of sexual abused children.
Participants must have completed the Safeguarding Level 3 Course, formerly the Child Protection Foundation Course, before enrolling.

Time: two day course, 9am–4.30pm
Maximum number for this course: there are spaces available for foster carers who work with sexually abused children. This is a multiagency training programme which provides a good opportunity for carers to train alongside teachers, health professionals and other social care staff. Please register your interest on the booking form, and the training clerk will be in touch.
Carers will need to commit to both days if they wish to attend this course. If you are offered a place it is essential that you attend.
