At any one time, Devon has between 400 and 500 children placed in foster care, with the average being about 450.

This number fluctuates daily according to, for example, demand for placements, and children returning home or moving on to adoption.  

In any year, Devon could work with as many as 600 children through the fostering service - because many children need only short periods in foster care.
