School Dyslexia Helpline

More Information about the Helpline

We view our role as one in which we are involved in:

  • Acknowledging and reducing anxiety.
  • Facilitating dialogue between schools and parents.
  • Establishing realistic and appropriate expectations about SEN provision in schools.
  • Discussing Dyslexia as a mainstream issue and placing it within the framework of the SEN Code of Practice.
  • Encouraging a focus on the whole child – bringing out strengths as well as helping with areas of difficulty.
  • Promoting a shared understanding of the term Dyslexia based on the BPS definition.
  • Promoting a focus on supporting needs rather than being preoccupied with labels.
