Procurement

Devon County Council spends approximately £450 million per annum on a varied range of goods, services and works that we need to deliver our services to the people of Devon.  Our requirements range from low value, high volume commodities such as stationery and office supplies to high value, critical and complex works and services such as IT solutions, school buildings, waste management provision, highways maintenance and care services.  This guidance is to help businesses interested in supplying the Council.  The rules by which DCC spend money on goods, services and works, are set out in our Constitution.

The Council recognises the need for effective procurement practices to acquire and deliver value for money on goods, works and services procured by us.  A Procurement Policy has been produced to inform members, staff, the public and suppliers how procurement will be managed.

If you would like to know more about how suppliers can work with us, please take a look at the Supplying the Council Guidance.  You can also find out more about our contracting opportunities by clicking on our online web portal Devon Procurement Portal where expressions of interest can be registered, quotes and tenders are issued and received electronically.  A user guide is available in the Suppliers Area of the portal.

As a public sector organisation the way in which we procure goods and services is governed by both Council regulations, National and European legislation.  As such we cannot discriminate in favour of local suppliers.  However, they will be given every encouragement to compete for Council Contracts.
