Most hard floor surfaces such as wood, vinyl, terrazeo, granwood, etc, can be renovated and restored to their original finish providing the surface has not been damaged too badly.  Wooden floors can be sanded and resealed using either spirit based or water based polyurethane seals.  The line marking of gymnasiums can also be carried out using compatible paint or tapes prior to resealing.  Vinyl flooring whether sheet or tile can be scrubbed, rinsed and resealed with either hard self shine polishes or the softer wax enriched emulsions.  A recent addition to the market is a matt finished polish that provides the necessary protection to floor coverings without giving the floor that institutionalised appearance.
