Title: Barnstaple Walking for Health
Date:Every Friday
Time: 10:15 for a 10:30 start
Description: A gentle walk suitable for anyone who is recovering from an illness or injury, or someone who is not used to any physical exercise and would like to become more active. Wheelchair and buggy accessible. Meet outside Barnstaple Library for a 20 - 30 minute circular walk with refreshments afterwards.

Title: Colouring and Coffee Too
Date:Friday afternoons.

Description: the colouring group which meets on Wednesdays have been having so much fun that they've asked for a second session. All materials are provided although you're welcome to bring your own. We ask for a small donation to cover costs of materials and for tea and coffee.
Audience:anyone who wants to spend time in pleasant company with a relaxing activity.

Title:Summer Reading Challenge - Revolting Writes Competition
Date:16 July to 3 September
Time: Library opening hours
Description: Come up with your own Revolting Write, inspired by Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes, for our summer competition, we'll be putting all the entries into an e-book compilation after the competition closes and a selection of entries will be read out at our presentation evening on the 16th of September. Every entrant will get a goody bag and there will be a bundle of exciting prizes for the winner. Pick up an entry form at the library after the launch on the 16th of July.

Title:Summer Reading Challenge - Scrumdidlyiumptious

Description: Get absorbed in the world of nature through the spell binding tales told by Devon-based story teller Lisa Schneidau. Followed by wildlife themed crafts. Delve into the ocean with magical seals and selfish seagulls and visit lands of mystic buzzing bees! Drop in anytime for stories every hour from 10am, followed by crafts every half past the hour.

Title: Author Visit, John Dougherty
Date:Monday 10 October
Time: 16:15-17:15
Description: Author of the Stinkbomb and Ketchup-face series, John Dougherty is a brilliant reader of his own stories, poems and the occasional song about toilets, John both entertains and inspires children as he talks to them about their reading and writing.
Audience:Suitable for age 6+.
Cost: £2.00 per ticket, payable at the time of booking, accompanying adults must have a ticket as well.

Description: Working with WOW North Devon's Scrapstore, Under 5s will be encouraged to explore their favourite books with imaginary play, using clean recycled materials donated by the public and local businesses. Engaging the children in storytelling. Sessions include all materials, just bring a child and imagination. Donations of £1 per child welcome. Please note that all children remain the responsibility of the accompanying adult.

Description: Students from Pathfield School post 16 unit, at the Town Station, are running a pop-up café in the library foyer every Thursday, with tea or coffee and home made flapjacks and biscuits. They are raising funds for their unit.

Description: Reading with the Dogs Helping Kids School Dogs. This scheme is designed to encourage children and teenagers to read. The Certified dogs are all highly trained to be safe and competent in a school or library environment, their owners have also been given thorough training. Dogs are amazing listeners and are an uncritical audience for struggling, or reluctant, readers. Description: Bring your baby or toddler to our popular bounce and rhyme session. We sing songs and nursery rhymes, bounce and shout and generally have a great time!. the activities help develop confidence, co-ordination, listening and social skills in your child and a re a great chance to give them some fun exercise.

Description: It's not a race, it's not a test. Simply choose the books you like and when you have read them, chat to your local librarian about them. You are awarded a badge when you have read 10, 25, 50 and 75 books plus stickers at 40, 50 and 90 books. When you have finished your reading trail of 100 books you will get a special certificate and a gold badge!

Date:Every day. Time available for individual help will vary according to other customers demand and staff commitments on the day.
Time: During normal Local Studies Centre opening hours (not the same as the main Library).
Description: We offer help with all aspects of family and local history using our own resources here at the Centre and online resources such as the Ancestry and '19th Century Newspapers' websites which are available FREE to Library members.
Audience:From beginner to expert although computer experience is desirable for online resources.
Cost: Free. Please note that this is free expert help and is not to be confused with other fee-charging family history events hosted at Barnstaple Library
