Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (Road Closures)
Street Parties

This information does not apply for restrictions in Plymouth or Torbay, for restrictions on Public Rights of Way and for works on the highway.
If your street party requires the closure of more than a single minor road (e.g. village or town centres) then you will need to follow the standard events procedure.
The deadline to apply for a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) for a Diamond Jubilee Street Party has now passed.
![]() | In order to help you have a successful event, and to enable your guests, visitors and participants to get to and from the event quickly and safely, we need to know about it. If we are aware of your event, we can try and prevent delays from digging up the road by other organisers. Whilst we cannot guarantee there will be no delays, we will have more opportunity of co-ordinating activities if you tell us about your event well in advance. The website for the Lord Lieutenant of Devon contains information on Diamond Jubilee celebrations across Devon. They invite you to register your event with them to provide a detailed picture of how communities in Devon are supporting the Queens Diamond Jubilee. |
Who can apply?
Anyone wishing to hold a street party for the Queens Diamond Jubilee may apply for a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) to close a minor road.
Anyone wishing to close more than a single minor road (e.g. village or town centres) will need to follow the standard events procedure.
If you are unsure whether your road is a major or minor road then please contact your local neighbourhood team on 0845 155 1004 or email csc.roads@devon.gov.uk.
Please note that an event can only be held on the public highway with the approval of the relevant licensing authority.
How much notice is needed?
To allow us sufficient time to consider the implications of a closure, you MUST apply for a TTRO at least 6 weeks in advance (Friday 20 April for the Diamond Jubilee).
How much will it cost?
There is no charge for a TTRO to close a minor road for a street party.
If you require No Waiting cones there may be additional costs.
