Methods of Payment

You may pay for photocopies, microfiche printouts, digital copies, parish register microfiche orders, publications or work undertaken by other record office services by £sterling cheque or credit/debit card.  Bank drafts are also accepted at Devon Record Office, Exeter.  We require payment or credit/debit card details before we produce or send out any of the above orders, and before we undertake any other services.

Please send £sterling cheques (made payable to Devon County Council)  to Devon Record Office, Great Moor House, Bittern Road, Sowton, Exeter, Devon, EX2 7NL, U.K.

Payments by Visa, Delta, Mastercard, Eurocard, and other debit cards are accepted – details of cardholder name, address, card number, three-digit security number (from the reverse of the card), expiry date and, in the case of debit cards, a ‘valid from’ date, can be provided by telephone, post or fax -  but not by e-mail.

If you are an overseas customer not paying by credit or debit card, you can send your payment to Devon Record Office, Exeter in £sterling in the form of a bank draft.   Please note that North Devon Record Office at Barnstaple does not accept bank drafts.

If copies cannot be supplied, or a service cannot be provided, and you have paid by cheque, we will return the whole cheque to you.  We do not give partial refunds of our minimum copying charges.   If you have paid by cheque, any credit left over from advance payment for copying, postage or other services will normally be held against future orders.

If you can make no further use of our services and have been charged an excess payment by credit/debit card, a refund of the remaining amount can be made.

If in doubt about the cost of a service, please ask for a quote of the cost in advance, or pay by open cheque or credit/debit card.

Our online ordering and payment system has been suspended until it has been updated in accordance with the new charges.
