Devon Facts and Figures

Equality and diversity

This web page has been produced jointly by Organisational Development and Strategic Intelligence to provide us with better information about the diverse communities we serve.

Data alone does not provide all the information we need to understand the communities you serve; it is just one piece of the jigsaw puzzle.  Used alongside knowledge and experience and other information such as customer feedback and profiles, consultation, surveys and qualitative research we can start to build a picture on which to make informed decisions and ultimately deliver excellent services.

Comparing two or three data sets can reveal useful information about a particular group. For example, compare Disability Living Allowance with Population Density and Deprivation/Barriers to Housing and Services image - PDF icon (889KB - pdf help) and we start to see that there are ‘hot spots’ where there is a higher proportion of people with disabilities living in isolation with high deprivation and poor access to services. This kind of information is useful when planning outreach services or accessible public transport. Contextual information can be found on our facts &figures page

This is the first time we have produced this information in this way and would welcome your feedback. Please forward any feedback to statistics@devon.gov.uk
