One of Devon County Council’s roles is to support the protection, management and enhancement of the County’s rich and varied landscape, its unique wildlife and important historic and geological features.

This collection of web pages, with links to other DCC and partner web resources, provides information on biodiversity, environmental policy, landscape, protected landscapes, historic environment and flood risk management.

From Devon’s granite moors to its two distinct coastlines, plus everything in between, the County has an outstanding environment that we are working together to protect and promote for everyone to benefit from and enjoy.

NEWS: In June 2023, Devon County Council was appointed as Responsible Authority by the Secretary of State to develop a Local Nature Recovery Strategy. The Strategy will cover the whole of Devon including Plymouth and Torbay. See more about this under the Wildlife section.
