Since 2004 Devon County Council has taken seriously the issue of domestic violence and abuse, as a workplace issue. It recognised, from consultation adva undertook in 2004, that 10% of the current workforce experienced abuse in the home.

• It created an Employer Domestic Violence and Abuse Policy (2004)

• It introduced a Domestic Violence and Abuse Contact Scheme (2008)
• It introduced specialist training for all managers of staff as an on-going, rolling programme

• Adva produced publicity leaflets and posters for dissemination across Directorates
