The Yeoford Community Appraisal Questionnaire was delivered to 246 households in Yeoford and the surrounding area. 115 households took part, expressing the views of 345 people. The report provides a summary of the results together with recommendations (made jointly by the Appraisal Steering Group and members of the Parish Council) and some relevant comments from respondents. The full analysis of the questionnaire will be made available, for consideration, by the Parish Council and other village organisations. The issues identified in the Appraisal cover an enormous range in terms of achievability through both cost and timescale. This report recommends action by village organisations, the Parish Council, the Mid Devon District Council, and by Devon County Council. This report also invites these organisations to note the issues raised and to react where appropriate. To an extent this document gives a blueprint for the future of the community living in and surrounding Yeoford. The extent to which progress is made depends on these organisations. It is hoped that progress can be reported back to the public through the minutes and AGMs of the various bodies. The newly returned Village Voice is also an ideal vehicle for communication. This document is a summary and has attempted to focus on the more significant topics and views expressed. A full list of results is available from the Clerk to the Parish Council: Miss J Burrow 01363 84268 Households in the area averaged 3 occupants and of the people completing the questionnaire 53% were female and 47% male. All age ranges were adequately covered although it should be noted that 45% of those responding were aged 40-59. The following table shows the percentage of returns by dwelling ownership.
217 cars and 12 motorcycles are owned by the 115 households which responded to the questionnaire.
Whilst a majority consider that some additional housing is required there was no clear direction. A quarter of those responding indicated a need for housing for local people and young people, whilst 36% concluded that no additional housing is required. ‘No more development please’ Recommendation: That Crediton Hamlets Parish Council ensure that the District Council and other housing bodies are aware of the results of the Appraisal.
The survey indicated, from a comparatively small sample, that approximately half of children under school age will attend Yeoford School. The majority of children (two thirds) will attend pre-school within the village. A majority (133 people) wishes the school facilities to be made available to the community, although a smaller number (106 people) were interested in vocational training. Recommendation: That Yeoford School Governing Body (together with Queen Elizabeth Community College) consider, as appropriate, the results of the Appraisal.[DF&F Main Menu] [Community Profiles Menu] [Community Appraisals Menu] [Top of Page] [Devon C.C.
