Retail Services & Other Facilities
301 people (24.1%) shop weekly in the village, 684 (54.7%) occasionally and 70 (5.6%) never. Most people do so for 'last minute' items whilst 985 said they used the Post Office for postal services, 741 for road tax/TV licence/other bills and 384 for pensions/allowances.
Sport, Social &: Entertainment
64 people are involved in football, 57 with pre-school group and 717 with nothing at all. 112 people said they would participate in a conservation group, with 84 expressing an interest in a music/jazz club.
541 people said they would use an additional doctor's surgery, whilst the second most popular potential facility was a Citizens Advice Bureau, with 288. 203 people wanted more post boxes, 230 wanted more telephone boxes and 457 wanted more of both.
Law & Order
Around 56% of respondents said that the Fire and Ambulance services were good or reasonable but the figure for the Police service was down to 48% (21.8% actually said it was poor). Only 254 people (22%) said they would use the monthly Police Surgeries if they were reinstated.
Environment
523 people said dogs were a problem - 531 said they weren't and 171 had no opinion.
Parks and gardens were the most popular feature of the countryside with 855 'like a lot', followed closely by footpaths/bridleways (800) and village greens (779). 8 people liked electricity pylons!
1126 people (91%) would separate items for recycling, whilst 812 would use a waste bottle/paper/woolens/tins collection centre. Additionally, 604 (54.1%) would use a composting scheme and, joyfully, 46 people said they would help run it (but only 14 people filled in the little slips). A majority of people (640) said that the number and location of litter bins is poor.
Transport & Highways
27% of those who replied said they used the bus service for shopping, and just over 16% use it for social and leisure activities. The route and reliability were best seen as reasonable but the timetable and cost were both poor, with high percentage figures.
860 people (70.7%) said the B3181 should be 30 mph through the village itself but a majority said it shouldn't be extended.
Heavy vehicle movements should be restricted through the village (65.2%). Most people thought that provision for cyclists is non-existent, with 806 (67.6% voting for a cycle path to Cullompton.
