Willand Parish Appraisal

Back in March of this year you were all given the opportunity to fill in a questionnaire which was designed to provide useful statistics and to obtain your views on a number of local topics. The completed questionnaires have now been analysed and the following pages are a very brief summary of the findings.

Key Findings

General Population Statistics

The form was delivered to all 1106 households in the Parush. 674 were returned which represents 60.9%, although 35 of these were totally blank. The statistics which follow relate to the completed 639 and the 1558 people involved.

In the respondent group, there were 182 males and 163 females aged 16 and under. Of working age, there were 428 males and 448 females, whilst of retirement age and above there were 155 males and 190 females.

There are 841 reported cars/vans and 62 motorcycles. 395 of these are parked in a garage, 387 off the road, 87 on the road and 5 in a public car park. 83 households (13%) have no vehicle at all, 284 (44.4%) have one and 219 (34.3%) have two.

16 respondents are in need of alternative accommodation in Willand now, 11 within the next three years and 30 in the 4-10 years timespan.

Housing

Of the 1254 people who answered this question, 833 (66.4%), said they wanted the housing stock to stay as it is now, with 184 (14.7%) offering no opinion. 244 people said housing wa needed for local people, 158 for young people and 107 for low income families. 954 (81.7%) said new development should blend in with the existingcharacter of the area.
