Introduction
The Appraisal was distributed to households and 304 returned the completed questionnaire. Most houses in Tedburn Parish are occupied by 1-2 people, few by larger families. There are more women than men in the Psarish and the population is ageing
Respondents from Redburn and Pathfinder were evenly split on most issues, with those living in outlying areas representing the minority. Although the format of the questionnaire was criticised by a few people, the working party was nonetheless please with the response.
The purpose of the questionnaire was not simply to confirm what most residents already knew, but to use the results to intiate the process of systematically addressing those issues that are most important to the residents of the Parish. Therefore, to be of real value, the most important work of the exercise is yet to come.
A PUBLIC MEETING WILL BE HELD ON 28TH SEPTEMBER AT 7:30PM IN THE VILLAGE HALL.
All residents are invited to discuss the results, prioritise Action points and decide who takes responsibility for which bit (i.e. "organising community days to restore footpaths" - who wants to start this off, who wants to help etc).
All marginal comments are verbatim extracts from returned forms. Additional editorial comments/explanations in the main text are printed in italics. The Appraisal Committee has "Recommended Action" points (printed in bold) for most issues - these recommendations will be discussed at the Public Meeting.
The original Chairman of the working party was, due to unforeseen personal reasons, unable to see the appraisal throughout the duration of the exercise, has led to a delay in the publication of this, the completed report. The Steering Group would like to extend its thanks to all those who took part in the survey, for their time in completing the questionnaire and for their patience in waiting for this final report.
Thanks also to Helen Vines and Sue Murphy of the Community Council of devon for all their professional help supporting the community throug the appraisal process.
The total cost of the project to the parish was £300, paid for by the Parish Council.
The Sterring Committee would also like to thank Roger Sibley for taking over as Chairman at short notice and collating the final report. Thanks also to Shelia Forster and Cynthia Sibley for making sense of, and typing, the rough draft. Thank you to Devon County Council for printing and analysing the questionnaire and printing this report, and Tedburn Parish Council for theirn financial support. Finally, to all those who attended mettings and helped with the distribution and collection of the appraisal, the committee would like to extend its thanks and appreciation.
