PERSONAL SECTION

Housing

234 (32%) respondents considered there was no housing need in the ward.

130 (18%) thought there was a need for local housing for young people.

143 (19%) thought there should be more housing for senior citizens in the ward.

120 (16%) thought there should be more local housing for low income families.

Recommendations:

There is not a strong housing need indicated here but there is obviously some demand for certain categories, which might be worth investigating.

Vocational Training

222 respondents are interested in taking vocational training. 133 of these would like new technology and computer training. This is mirrored in the demand for a local computer club in the activities section. Although all respondents can get to East Devon College, it would indicate a strong demand for this service locally which should be pursued when drawing up detailed plans for the Community Centre.

Health Service

These were all indicated as good. 32 people have difficulty in getting to a doctor, 26 to a chemist and 37 to a dentist. Over 50 people occasionally have difficulty in getting to any health service.

Recommendations:

This matter can be investigated as a possible service for the Community Centre.

Voluntary Work

104 respondents currently do voluntary work. This is possibly a good indication of potential help from local residents with the Community Centre.
