Recommendations:

  1. There is a clear mandate from the local community to attempt to purchase the site from the County Council.
  2. The survey results give a clear indication of what services/activities people think are needed and would participate in at such a centre. These results should be used in the preparation of the detailed plans required to make a Community Centre viable.
  3. To purchase the site a Community Group with Charitable Status must be established to pursue the funding required (£220,000) to purchase the site. All possible funding sources (Lotteries, grants, trusts, business donations, individual donations and general fund raising) should be immediately applied for. Relevant agencies and local authorities should be approached for any support, advice and resources they are willing to give to this community initiative.
