RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FURTHER ACTION In addition to sending copies to the appropriate local government officers and all households, the Steering Group is to ask the Parish Council to include a discussion of the Appraisal at the annual Parish Meeting on 22 March 2000. We propose inviting a number of local government officers to take part. We will also invite those of you who have offered help to set up the various projects identified in the Appraisal, for example: a pre-school play-group and a footpath project. A number of topics have been or are going to be acted upon. The housing figures have been sent to the Borough Housing Officer and West Devon Homes. The Parish Council will obviously give us a progress report as and when they have any information. A preliminary approach has been made to the School regarding the introduction of a Computing Course by an independent tutor, with the availability of a number of computers for this purpose. We will keep you posted. The Headmistress seems quite amenable for the school to be used for further education courses. With a number of topics being at the forefront of the news at the moment, particularly the issue of the payment of Pensions through the Post Office, the Steering Group decided that it would be important to send a copy of the results of the Appraisal to our local MP. John Burnett has replied thanking us for the information and assuring us that he is doing his utmost to look after our interests.
