VILLAGE POST OFFICE/STORES PUB AND GARAGE

It is unclear whether or not people think that these facilities are worthwhile preserving, they are not particularly well supported:

VILLAGE POST OFFICE/STORES

It is used by:

  • 62 people daily
  • 74 people weekly
  • 38 people less frequently
  • 10 people never

PUB

It is used by:

  • 47 people weekly.
  • 82 people less frequently
  • 49 people never

GARAGE

It is used by:

  • 20 people monthly.
  • 59 people less often.
  • 90 people never.

HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES

13 people have problems collecting medicines and 57 people have offered to participate in a scheme to assist people with such problems. The Steering Group will consider a way forward with this. (Part of the problem is that, because of geography, Spreyton people use surgeries in Chagford, Okehampton, North Tawton and Bow which all have different arrangements for medicines).

SPORT SOCIAL AND ENTERTAINMENT

We now realise that this question was not well framed as some of these facilities cannot be used for a large part of the year. However the following use is made of them when weather allows:

It should be noted that:

  • These facilities are used extensively by people from surrounding Parishes who are not included in the Questionnaire.
  • The Playground has, for safety reasons, been partially closed.
  • 1999 was Spreyton Cricket Club’s first season.

INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS

MOBILE LIBRARY

This is used by:

  • 12 people every visit.
  • 148 people never

‘This could be a case of use it or lose it!’

PARISH MAGAZINE

154 (84%) people think that the information on village activities is good or reasonable. It is widely read, only 15% of those asked say that they never read it.

PARISH NOTICE BOARD

72% would like to have a new Parish notice board displayed in a prominent, accessible place. The Parish Council is asked to follow this up.
