1. Introduction

The Rattery appraisal was designed to give everybody in the Parish an opportunity to express an opinion on issues identified by the community as important, including housing, the environment, transport and jobs. Most importantly, the conclusions contained in this report are yours and, with a response rate of 74%, reflect an accurate overview of the attitudes of the people of Rattery. Indeed, the response rate highlights the interest parishioners have in Rattery.

The Rattery village appraisal questionnaire was delivered to all households on the Rattery electoral roll. In total, 167 questionnaires were delivered of which 121 were returned, giving the impressive response rate of 74%.

The households responding comprised 296 people, 55% of which were female and 45% male. Approximately 40% of respondents are aged between 40 and 59.

This report provides a summary of results and information which will require careful examination and analysis before any appropriate action can be taken. Where appropriate, preliminary recommendations are identified for discussion by the Rattery Parish Council and the public meeting to be held in the village hall to discuss further the appraisal results and, most importantly, to identify appropriate action.

The Rattery Village Appraisal was organised by a committee that included Anthony Colter, Mark Daymond, Kath Gambling, Richard Gibb, Decima Jones, Penny King, Steve Levy, Sharon McQuarrie, Julia Morel, Andrew Parris, Ray Wills and Mike Yardley. The Committee would like to express its thanks to the distributors of the questionnaire and the residents of Rattery for taking time to make the appraisal a success.

If you would like to make any comments or suggestions on this report please put them in writing and forward to Joy Pack, Clerk to the Rattery Parish Council. The full set of results is available from the Parish Council should anyone wish to see them.
