IN CONCLUSION

In response to Q42, was the questionnaire worth doing? – Time will tell’

The steering committee felt that most people are reasonably happy with the way the parish runs, however we feel that the parish should be more aware of who our parish councillors are and that they should be more approachable. (Please see list)

Due to the layout and nature of the parish we feel that a parish newsletter would be a great step forward in dealing with most of the points you have raised. We have had a lot of offers with its construction /distribution. Through the newsletter, as well as village news, we could run schemes for helping with transportation needs, arranging groups for evening classes in our parish, or through shared transport to other local community venues. Other ideas include village history, the oldest photo of Putford? These things, if not shared, can be lost forever.

We have also had offers of help with a Youth Club. This we feel is another area which should be acted on.

You might feel that other subjects raised earlier in this report e.g. nursery buildings, village hall, dangerous roads, recycling etc. should also be discussed. If so you must come to the meeting. It would be nice if at the meeting we could create small groups of like-minded people to take these points on to the next stage.

We feel that this opportunity will not arise again, so we must act now. We know how busy everyone is, but we would like at least one member per household to attend the general meeting

-also children are more than welcome- ideally the whole village should attend.

Please do come and let us give the village something to look forward to in the next millennium.

If you are unable to attend on this date, but feel you would like to contribute, please let a member of the parish council, or anyone attending, know of your support.

Thanks are due to the people who generously gave up their time to deliver and collect the questionnaires.

Also thanks to:

  • Mike Knight and members of the Community Council of Devon for their guidance, funding and collating of the information.

  • Members of the Parish Council, for initiating the Appraisal and contributing to the production costs.

  • All members of the appraisal steering group, who have given up many hours of their free time.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this.
