Police coverage

It should be noted that our Community Police Officer has been on traffic duty (cars) for six months.

Newsletter
50 people volunteered to take an active part in various phases of preparation for a Northlew Newsletter. This level of support could make it vialble to produce. 132 people think a newsletter is needed. 122 think it is not needed.

What is your opinion of the services in Northlew?
Out of the services listed Refuse Collection came top of the HEAP - Congratulations and thank you to the two gents who appear in all weathers to collect our rubbish. 254 people expressed an opinion on this item 76% saying that this service is good and we find it reliable.

Street Lighting is considered "poor" by 101 people (40%), 98 people (38%) think it "reasonable" and 56 people (22%) say the lighting is "good". Conclusions are that the lighting in Northlew could be improved.

Of the remaining services, road maintenance, road cleaning and verge maintenance are generally "reasonable" but could be improved. 111 people (43%) thought the reliability of the telephone kiosk was "good".

Best Kept Village
Although not a service we do enter each year. Ofthose expressing an opinion 25 (12%) stated it was "good", 135 (65%) "reasonable" and 47 (23%) deemed it "poor".

Recycling
311 people (86%) would be prepared to separate refuse for recycling as a separate collection.

Dog Fouling
217 (83%) of respondents think that dog fouling is a big problem in Northlew. 80 (30%) people think litter is a problem and 51 (20%) people think derelict sites are.

Protection of Landscape Features
There is overwhelming support for the protection of the features traditional and historical. 315 people responded to this question, of whom 279 (89%) thought the Pump, and 293 (93%) the Devil Stone needed protecting.

What improvements are needed?
The most popular improvements suggested for consideration are improved lighting in the Square 146 people (55%), and a noticeboard by the Church Room 143 people (55%). A bus shelter by the Pump received 76 (29%) people's support as did a bus shelter elsewhere.

Q19 - Parish Map Project
Of those expressing an opinion 102 (44%) people are in favour of a Parish Map Project, with 128 not in favour. However around one-third of respondents had no opinion on the subject. Possible volunteers are required for research and development.
