Social Activities

71 people responded to the question concerning 'Activities you are already involved in'. Of these, 51 people are involved or have been involved in social activities in the village i.e. The Beetle Drive, Youth Club, Euchre and Bell Ringing. 20 people are involved in other activities.

Quite a mnumber would like to see new clubs formed in the village. These are rated in order of popularity as follows:

  • Rambling club - 27
  • Bell ringing - 8
  • Gardening club - 22
  • Forming a band - 8
  • Dance - 19
  • Beetle Drive - 7
  • Painting & drawing - 18
  • Luncheon club - 6
  • Photography - 18
  • Quilting club - 6
  • Drama - 11
  • Choral society - 5
  • Music society - 9
  • Knitting circle - 3
  • Whist drive - 8
  • Surprisingly, 20 people are listed under 'other' activities, so it seems there are many other clubs, which could be formed in the village.

28 people have stated their interest in helping to organise and run social activities. Hopefully we will discover the extent in organising, running and participating in these social activities when we have a public meeting.

    Village Hall

33 parishioners use the village hall 1 to 5 times a month
83 parishioners use the village hall less frequently
10 parishioners use the village hall more than 5 times a month.

Sadly, 76 people never use it at all.
(For update on Village Hall - see Action Plan)

Adequacy - 95 respondents think the village hall is adequate whereas 52 feel it is not adequate for all community needs.

It is difficult to assess from the survey if the 95 people who find it adequate are the ones who actually use it.

'Other' indoor sports not listed have 113 people interested in playing and 3 people to organise those activities. Once again it will be interesting to discover how these sports and participants can be joined to form new social outlets within the community.

Overall, 32 people are willing to help organise social activities within the Parish - that's quite a few.
