Molland Village Appraisal Report DOG CONTROL
A large percentage raised concern at the lack of control of dogs, low flying aircraft and farm animals on the road. ACTION To request that the Parish Council approaches North Devon District Council to erect anti-fouling signage. People to be requested to keep better control of their domestic pets and farm animals to be controlled when on the public highway. Notification of concerns about low flying aircraft to be reported to the R.A.F. ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES Significant concerns were expressed about poor gritting, roadside care/verge maintenance provision and emptying of litter bins. ACTION Results of appraisal to be referred to the relevant departments of Devon County Council and Parish Council for action.
RECYCLING UNIT 90% said that they would use a re-cycling unit if provided. ACTION Results to be reported to the Parish Council for immediate action. Possible location to be identified. Recycling pavilion provided from North Devon District Council, but needs to be managed. BUS SHELTER 90% identified a need for a bus shelter. ACTION To refurbish or replace with new structure, existing bus shelter at Meadow Park. Grant to be obtained. Parish Council to make the relevant approaches to source of fundings. Make contact with school bus collection service to collect children from new refurbished bus shelter at Meadow Park rather than from the Triangle. ROAD HAZARDS (SAFETY)
Various danger spots on the local highways were identified including Shop hill, vehicles parked in dangerous positions, Copphall, New Road, Moneyhole, Chapel Corner and below the Council Houses. There was a majority support for the imposition of a speed restriction through the village and for more selective road signing, e.g. children playing. ACTION To report the hazard areas to the Devon County Council Highway Authority to include possible no parking areas, speed restriction zones, road widening improving visibility where appropriate, children playing warning signs. To request Devon County Council Highway Authority to report back on the various issues.
